Orchid Care Tips!
We advise you follow these tips and tricks in order to promote longevity for your arrangements and orchids!
Light
Place orchids in bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can burn the leaves.
Humidity
Keep orchids in a humid environment. Avoid placing them near air conditioning vents, heaters, or drafty windows, as these can dry out the air and harm the plant.
Watering
Do not use ice cubes to water orchids, as the cold can shock their roots. Instead, use about 2 ounces of room-temperature tap water every 7–10 days. Before watering, gently lift the moss or check the potting mix—only water if it’s completely dry. If it still feels damp, wait a few more days before watering again.
Potting & Soil
Use a well-draining orchid-specific potting mix (usually bark, sphagnum moss, or coconut husk). Use pots with drainage holes to avoid root rot.
Temperature
Orchids prefer daytime temps between 65–80°F (18–27°C) and nighttime temps between 60–70°F (15–21°C). A slight temperature drop at night helps encourage blooming.
Blooming & Dormancy
Orchids may bloom once or twice a year, with flowers lasting several weeks. After blooming, cut the flower spike back to the second or third node to encourage reblooming. Orchids often enter a dormant phase—this is normal. Just continue light watering and care until new growth appears.
